We are all spiritual beings having a human experience.
As Christians, we often say we are “saved”. What does that mean?
Being “saved” means the person has the belief that through faith in Jesus Christ and acceptance of His sacrifice on the cross, an individual can be reconciled with God and receive eternal life.
Here are the key components of being saved as a Christian:
- Faith in Jesus Christ: Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and the saviour of humanity. This faith involves acknowledging Jesus’ death on the cross as atonement for sin and accepting Him as Lord and Savior.
- Grace: Salvation is a gift of God’s grace. It is not something that can be earned through good deeds or personal merit. Rather, it is a free gift given by God to those who believe in His Son.
- Repentance: Repentance is necessary to receive salvation. It is a sincere turning away from sin and a commitment to follow God’s ways. Repentance is a response to God’s love and grace.
- Regeneration: Through salvation, a person experiences a spiritual rebirth or regeneration. This is often described as being “born again” or becoming a “new creation” in Christ.
- Eternal Life: The result of being saved is to receive eternal life with God. This is understood as a life in communion with God, free from the separation caused by sin.
Salvation through faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of what it means to be saved as a Christian.
